What is a Co-Lab
Challenge?
Catalyst Co-Labs help a changemaking organization overcome an important challenge, or opportunity, they are facing in order to achieve their desired impact.
To understand how we do this, see “What is a Co-Lab and how does it work?“
A Co-Lab Challenge / Problem is:
Specific & well defined
Solve-able
Scalable or replicable
Relatable in different regions/contexts
Partnership friendly
Examples of Challenges:
How do we connect a network of educators geographically distributed across multiple languages and cultures?
How do we get street vendors across India to adopt a recyclable cloth bag to solve the plastic bag waste problem?
We need help to quickly adapt our education & mental health methodology for children to a wartime situation in the Middle East.
How can we develop impact metrics that measure collaboration among the social entrepreneurs in our network across Africa?
We need to present policy recommendations related to mental health and climate change to the Scandinavia governments, that reflect voices of those impacted from around the world.
A Catalyst Co-Lab challenge is not:
Too large
Too complex
Too specific or tactical
A fundraising issue
Examples of what is not an accepted Co-Lab Challenge:
We want to invite potential customers to give us feedback on our new product
How do I raise funds?
How do I change agricultural policy in my country?
